Certification – Lantra Awards 4x4 off road driving training course Why you might need to attend or send employees on this course: Under the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) if you are provided with specialist equipment (this includes 4x4 vehicles) you must be trained in their use. Dates – We can organise course dates to accommodate individual needs. A Welsh speaking trainer is available. Venue – Training will take place at our Lantra approved 4x4 site near Bala, North Wales. (It is sometimes possible to arrange training at other Lantra approved sites if required). Course Contents The course is designed to provide delegates with the necessary knowledge and skills to drive 4x4 vehicles in a safe and appropriate way therefore looking after the vehicle itself, people and the environment. The course combines theory and practical sessions to cover: Safety aspects of off road driving Understanding and recognising different 4x4 system and vehicles Preparing the vehicle for off road driving How and when to engage 4WD, differential lock and other related features Weight transfer and weight distribution. Hill climb and hill decent Approach, departure and ramp over angle Assessing the ground and planning ahead Transmission wind up Failed hill climb Negotiating ruts, ditches, ridges, water, v shaped gullies and traversing Driving on different surfaces and in different weather Rejoining the main road Professional (2 day, assessed) Experienced (1 day, assessed) For more information please contact us.
